Four Tips for Standing Out in a Mass or Collective Wedding
Mass weddings can be an inexpensive option to tying the knot, but it can sometimes make you feel less important on your big day. Even if there are only a few participants, all eyes aren't on you. Your big day should be all about you, but how can you stand out when there’s more than one bride and groom? Here are four ways to make the most of your decision to participate in a mass wedding.
Apparel
Choosing a wedding garment that stands out from the crowd will definitely put all eyes on you. You can choose a garment that is stunningly gorgeous, has a pop of color, or is a completely different color. Dresses with lace or rhinestone details are also a great choice. Wedding dresses in Eastern cultures look very different from Western apparel, so you may want to draw inspiration from those brides and/or grooms. You don’t even have to wear a traditional wedding dress. You can wear a Sari (an Indian wedding attire), a Kebaya (a traditional Javanese blouse dress), or a white Kimono (traditional Japanese wedding attire).
Accessories
Even if you choose to wear a traditional wedding gown, accessories always have the ability to make someone stand out from the crowd. Having a rhinestone, broch-like bouquet of flowers is a great start. If you have a short dress, then perhaps your shoes can be the stand out accessory. Wearing a veil, tiara, or birdcage hat is also something that will help you stand out. Lastly, if you really want to stand out, try wearing a headdress from another culture, such as a Turban, a Taiwanese Phoenix Crown, or an African headwrap.
Photography
It's extremely important to have a photographer who will focus only on you and your fiance. While the ceremonial photographer is obligated to take photos of each guest, depending on the number of participants, they may only be able to get one shot. There are many moments during your big day that you don't want to miss. For example, the photographer can't capture each couple's ceremonial kiss at the same time. This is why hiring a personal photographer is a great idea. They will be able to professionally capture your important moments. You can also take pre-wedding photos, get ready with me photos, and/or secure a spot after the ceremony to take your individual wedding photos. All of this attention will certainly make you feel like you’re the only bride that day.
Invitations
Normally you send out wedding invitations well in advance to family and friends, but this is different. Of course you still want family and friends to show up, but wedding invitations may be overkill. Once you find out where you and your fiance will be standing, try to send out texts, emails, or make phone calls about your positioning in the massive crowd. Having all of your loved ones in one area will help to make you feel like you have everyone's attention and that all eyes are on you.
The Final Reveal
With these four tips, you’re sure to make an entrance, keep everyone’s attention, and feel like you’re the only girl in the world! Mass weddings can seem informal and impersonal, but with creative touches that can all change. Try one or a few of the suggestions and watch your entire wedding change for the best.
