10 Engagement Photo Locations in Atlantic City

For years, Atlantic City has been a prominent area and tourist attraction, but most haven’t thought of it as their go-to place for engagement photos. I guess it’s because no one knows where to go for beautiful backdrops and breathtaking scenery other than the beach. However, there are perfect spots for everyone’s unique photos.

1- The Fountain of Light at Brighton Park

If you want a water backdrop without getting wet, try visiting the water and light show at Brighton Park. The fountain was given to Atlantic City by the General Electric Company in 1929 and later updated with LED light technology. The park itself is a great place to take pictures. You can lay out a picnic blanket on the grass, stand under the beautiful trees, or lay against the park’s entrance pillars. The pillars are next to a cascade of steps where Miss America contestants would sit during the beauty pageant. Whatever your desire, you’re sure to have amazing photos.

2 - The Boardwalk

There are many places along the boardwalk to take great photos. Of course, if you wait until evening, then the backdrop of the casinos is just gorgeous. The boardwalk is over 40 miles of wide, wooden planks with enough space for everyone. You can stand or sit down in the middle of the boardwalk and it wouldn’t be a problem. With all of the stores and restaurants, there are more than enough places to take a couple of snapshots.

3 - Gardner’s Basin

With many quaint shops and restaurants, you’ll surely find a lot of spots to take photos. Gardner’s Basin features open space, water, small restaurants, and historic shops. Take photos by the marina, the boats, or by the Atlantic City Aquarium. Make sure you take pictures by the garden which has won the Blue Ribbon from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and many other awards. The parking is free, but if you parked elsewhere (and had to pay) you can catch the Jitney instead of driving again. Try getting on a boat and taking pictures on the water, too. You just may catch some dolphins swimming in the background.

4 - The Wheel at Steel Pier

You may want to wait until dusk to visit the Steel Pier in Atlantic City to take a picture at the Ferris Wheel. A beautiful clear day will allow the cityscape to be sharp and eye-catching. Its architecture is visually captivating.  Clouds don’t take away from photos, instead, they add depth and an interesting quality to your pictures. While it is beautiful during the day, the evening lights make the magic! Don’t forget to take a ride and view the spectacular scene, it’s also great as the background for your photos. Riding the Ferris Wheel will give you multiple photo angles and vantage points.

5 - Absecon Lighthouse

Located on Rhode Island Avenue, the 3rd tallest lighthouse in the country overlooks the Jersey Shore with a 360-degree view. This lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in New Jersey and sits on 2 acres of land which also features great landscaping. It has a long covered patio and porch that works with all types of weather! Don’t worry if it starts raining or snowing while you’re there, you’re literally covered.

6 - Atlantic City Murals (#48blocks)

Luckily someone thought it’d be a cool idea to paint the town! Murals have become a growing trend in backdrops for engagement photos. A couple of years ago, Atlantic City gathered artists to paint various walls throughout the 48 blocks of the city. It’s become a tourist attraction with the jitneys touring specific murals in the summer. However, you can go on your trip around the city with your photographer and take a picture at each of the murals. It’ll be an entertaining engagement photo session. 7 - World War I Memorial

Monuments and memorials are a popular place to take engagement photos, so try this beautiful Greek Temple look-alike. It’s a tall, round building with 16 large columns and is perfect for your backdrop. Located on Albany and Ventnor avenues, you can sit on the steps or lean against the columns for a beautiful photo.

8 - Civil Rights Garden

This picture-perfect area features beautiful Gingko trees, 11 granite columns, and a large bell. Its walkway is symbolic of the Negro marches for freedom, but also gives your photographer unique angles to take your pictures. If you’re freedom-conscious, take a picture with the inscriptions on the front of the columns. If you aren’t, or would rather have a different type of photo, there are plenty of opportunities within the landscaping to do so.

9 - Atlantic City Beach

We can’t end the post without mentioning the most obvious location, Atlantic City’s beach. Sunrise and sunset photos are a great option, but if you’re not one to get up early or stay up late, then day photos are best. Try grabbing a picture with the lifeguard boats (Atlantic City is written on it) or by the lifeguard stand. Other great spots are the wooden pathways to get to the beach. There are wooden rails built along the sand dunes, making them a delightful scene for pictures. There are plenty of beach areas in Atlantic City since it spans the entire city. If you’re looking for complete privacy, the most secluded beach is probably at the Inlet.

10 - Flyers Skate Zone

If you’re into cooler temperatures, then the ice skating rink is where you’ll want to go. Grab a pair of skates and glide on the ice while taking a couple of action shots. Photographing movement is one way to turn your engagement photos into something more unique. Posing for your photos isn’t a bad idea either. Whatever you decide, you’ll have the coolest photos!

BONUS: Evening Photo Locations

If you are a fan of nightlife events, then you’d want to take advantage of the vibrant lights of Atlantic City! There are a lot of areas with bright lights and beautiful colors that look amazing as your engagement photo background.

  • Of course, some of the casinos are great spots, but try taking pictures at the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University on Fairmount Avenue.

  • The merry-go-round at the Steel Pier may seem like a kiddish ride, but the lights make a joyful and even elegant backdrop. Don’t believe me? Just look at the merry-go-round engagement photos on Pinterest. You may want to wait until the end of the night, right before closing to take photos so that you have little interference from photo bombers.

  • Overlooking the city will be an unforgettable experience, but one to remember as you take your engagement photos at Vue Rooftop Bar & Lounge on the 23rd floor of the Claridge Hotel.

Whatever and wherever you decide to go, Atlantic City is the place to be! The city has multiple places to enjoy and you won’t be disappointed with your photos. There’s more than just gambling here; there is life, vibrant culture, and most importantly, there’s fun for everyone!
